5.9-magnitude quake jolts sea east of Japan's Honshu

A 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted the sea area off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 1:48 pm on Saturday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 40 km, was at about 37.7 degrees north latitude and 141.6 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
