Singapore Airlines (SIA), together with its regional wing SilkAir, said on Monday that it had inked a codeshare agreement with China's Shenzhen Airlines, aiming at enhancing cooperation between the two sides.
According to the announcement, the SIA will add its "SQ" code and subsidiary SilkAir will add its "MI" code to Shenzhen Airlines- operated flights between Singapore and Shenzhen. Meanwhile, Shenzhen Airlines will add its "ZH" code to SilkAir-operated flights between Singapore and Shenzhen on a reciprocal basis.
There are two daily flights between Singapore and China's southern economic powerhouse Shenzhen. Shenzhen Airlines currently operates a daily round-trip flight, while SilkAir operates daily flights to Shenzhen and SIA codeshares on those services.
The SIA and SilkAir together operate 172 weekly services to 11 destinations in China, including Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Xiamen.
