Brazilian Adilson da Silva claimed the Zambia Golf Open title with an overall 11-under-par score to become only the sixth golfer in the history of the championship to win the crown twice, the Times of Zambia reported on Monday.

The Brazilian, winner of the Zambia Open in 2010, scored a modest 73-par but this was enough to win the title by one stroke after his two main competitors faltered as they approached the end, Times said.

Martin du Toit of South Africa, who had taken an early lead on the first two days, dropped a shot on the 16th hole, while Alex Haindl bogeyed on the 17th hole, despite a birdie on the 18th for the two to finish on 10-under-par after four rounds.

"It's absolutely great to seal the win, especially here in Zambia where I feel very much at home. Mentally, it was a big thing to stay calm and focus. I've been in this situation a couple of times, and I'm learning how to handle it," he was quoted as saying by the paper.

Zambia's top golfer Madalitso Muthiya carded a level-par 73 to finish tied on 19th on a four-under-par total while another Zambian Patrick Mwendapole birdied twice and bogeyed six times to finish overall seven-over-par.

The championship, which is Zambia's biggest golf tournament in a year, started last Friday with 140 golfers participating.
