Local food inspection authorities ordered a restaurant on Wujiang Road to temporarily shut down Monday after several diners complained that they got sick after eating there.

The Jing'an District Food and Drug Administration has opened an investigation into the K1+3 Rooftop Café Bar in response to the complaints, according to a post on the administration's microblog.

"We have sent inspectors to the restaurant and to the homes of the residents to verify their complaints. Because the customers live in different districts, it will take some time to complete the investigation," a Jing'an district FDA official surnamed Wang told the Global Times.

The administration received 21 complaints about the restaurant between Friday and Monday, according to a post on the administration's microblog late Monday. An initial investigation found that the diners suffered from bacterial food poisoning.

Notes posted at the restaurant Monday said it had closed temporarily due to an "interior renovation project," and would no longer be serving a kind of tiramisu dessert.

A microblogger called Cecilia Zhouzhou posted that she and two friends suffered vomiting, diarrhea and fevers above 39 C after eating dinner at the restaurant. All three had eaten the tiramisu. The microblogger said she was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

Thirteen similar complaints have been posted about the K1+3 Rooftop Café Bar on Wujiang Road since Saturday, according to the popular restaurant recommendation website dianping.com.

More than 10 residents may have gotten sick after eating at the restaurant, the news website eastday.com reported.

Most of the complaints came from customers who ate there between Wednesday and Friday.

The restaurant's management could not be reached by the Global Times by Monday evening.
