A train tour to Qomolangma will be launched June 1 in Tibet Autonomous Region to attract more tourists to Tibet. The train can host 600 people and has both hard-berth and soft-berth sleepers.
Tour guides and doctors are posted on the train to give tourists free physical examinations. The train connects Xining with Lhasa and leaves every four days. It will operate until the middle of October, news.china.com.cn reported on Monday. Tourists can go sightseeing in places such as Lhasa, Linzh, Nyingchi, Shannan and Shigatse. Tibet tourism authorities said that they hope to receive 1.26 million tourists in 2013, generating a total income of 1.58 million yuan ($250,000).
