Boeing declared Thursday that it had received certification for the 787 Dreamliner from the aviation regulator Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), marking a milestone for the jumbo jet's entry into China.

The CAAC presented Boeing with a Validation of Type Certification, confirming that the design of the Dreamliner is compliant with the country's aviation regulations and endorses the original Type Certificate issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration on August 26, 2011.

Sources said that China Southern will receive its first 787 on May 31.
