Police officers posted at prosecutors' offices at all levels will be responsible for stopping any efforts to disrupt judicial order, according to a renewed set of regulations issued by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).

Protective restraint will be imposed by police officers on people, including petitioners, who attempt to injure or kill themselves in prosecutors' offices, according to the regulations, which replace previous rules created in 1996.

They differ from the old regulations by including the officers' assistance in monitoring, arresting and searching for criminal suspects as part of their duties.
