Should coach stay or go?
The China Football Association is thinking about whether to keep national football team head coach José Antonio Camacho before its two-day general meeting, which commences Thursday, reported Beijing News.
Chinese football fans are wondering whether Camacho, Spain's former head coach, should stay after he said that he would "take responsibility" for China's recent losses.
Thousands of fans were devastated when Thailand defeated China in an embarrassing 5-1 victory last week - the loss was even harder to eat after the national team was beaten by Uzbekistan and Netherlands in June.
"Camacho should pack his bags and leave," said one Sina Weibo user. "During his two years coaching the national team, he never came up with a core lineup or feasible strategy based on the capabilities of that lineup. The players have lost their confidence and fans have lost faith in him."
"Firing a head coach won't reverse the team's losing streak," another Weibo user commented. "The quality of the players has been dropping; we need to rebuild the genes of Chinese football at its core."
Others said that Camacho should not be the only one taking the fall.
"I want to know when we'll be discussing the sacking of officials from China Football Association; it is the officials who have made such useless, if not terrible, arrangements, which have really hurt the national football team," said another Weibo user.
Fragile bags, be wary
An online video showing a cargo handler violently throwing boxes on to a carousel - with a majority of them missing and hitting the ground instead - at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, has many Web users worried about how their luggage is treated by airport staff.
Reportedly shot by a foreign tourist has attracted thousands of views in a day since it went viral on Sunday. Web users are calling the cargo handler "the accurate portrayal of contemporary Chinese working style."
The airport's management has responded to the situation, claiming that the cargo handler is not airport staff, but an on-the-ground airline employee. It added that airlines have been told to raise service for visitors.
"Cargo handlers should be trained before dealing with passengers' belonging," said one Weibo user. "The airport should take responsibility to see that all handlers, whether hired by the airport or not, are qualified to properly manage cargo."
