The Societe Generale (SG), a French multinational banking and financial services company, opened its seventh branch on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday in the city of Harbin in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
"The operation of the Harbin branch is another milestone in SG's 32-year-presence in China," said Jackson Cheung, CEO of SG China Ltd.
The expansion of SG China's network to northeast China proves SG's commitment to the Chinese market, Cheung said.
As the only French bank that provides banking services in China, SG has opened seven branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tianjin, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Harbin since November 2008.
Founded in 1864, SG is one of the oldest banks in France. In 1981, SG became one of the first international banks to open a representative office in Beijing.
