A group of roommates at Wuhan Donghu University, Hubei Province made a recent splash on Sina Weibo after making a homemade water bed to beat the sweltering summer nights in their dorm.
 
The student behind the idea, surnamed Gong, filled up 85 plastic bottles with water he and his roommates had collected over the semester, lined them up on the floor of his dorm and covered them with bamboo mats. 

According to Gong, he and his three other roommates take turns sleeping on their “water bed”, which keeps surprisingly cool during the night. 
 
"We don't bother changing the water everyday, and the water in the bottles can also be reused, so it's environmentally friendly," said Gong.
