A bronze statue of Bruce Lee, the great Chinese icon of martial arts, was unveiled in Los Angeles' Chinatown by officials on Saturday.

The ceremony was joined by Shannon Lee, daughter of Bruce Lee and president of the Bruce Lee Foundation in the Central Plaza.

Shannon expressed her gratitude for people who helped build the statue and hoped her father's martial dream could be followed by more younger generations.

The statue will be a permanent feature in Chinatown only when the community can raise $150,000 of funds to build supporting facilities.
