California's high-speed rail project can start construction after it was approved by a federal board.
The Surface Transportation Board passed a vote of 2-1 that the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) could begin this summer to build a high-speed railway from Fresno to Merced, which stretches 65 miles.
The construction cost of high-speed rail will be $1 billion for each 30 miles of high-speed rail track.
