A family of four who passed off low-quality alcohol as well-known local baijiu brands were sentenced to up to 10 months in prison at Tongzhou district court, the Beijing Times reports.

Starting last August, a man surnamed Zhang bought empty bottles, packages and fake labels for renowned brands such as Niulanshan, and had his wife and sons fill the bottles with cheap baijiu. When police raided Zhang's house in Songzhuang, they confiscated over 475 boxes of fake baijiu worth over 54,000 yuan in total.
