The Dubai Multi Commodities Center ( DMCC) said Tuesday that it plans to build the world's tallest commercial tower in the Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) free zone.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman of the DMCC, said the planned tower's surface shall measure 107,000 square meters, but did not mention the height of the tower.

The JLT free zone, located in the west of Dubai, harbors the 363-meter-tall Almas tower, where the DMCC and dozens of commodity and jewelry firms have their headquarters.

Since 2010, Dubai is also the home of the world's tallest mixed- use tower, the 828-meter Burj Khalifa.
