Iran's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said that the agency should step up its efforts to deal with the threat posed by cyber attacks to the nuclear facilities of the member states, Tehran Times daily reported Wednesday.

Cyber attacks against nuclear facilities and programs are considered as security concerns, said Soltanieh, adding that therefore, "we urge the agency to deal with the threats in cooperation with international community."

Iran said that over the past years, it has been the target of numerous cyber attacks which aimed to disrupt the country's nuclear systems.

Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced in October 2010 that Iran had detected and thwarted a virus aimed at infecting the country's nuclear plant system.

Iran said the computer worm "Stuxnet" infected 30,000 IP addresses in the country, including the personal computers of the staff at Bushehr, the country's first nuclear power plant.

Iran has accused the United States and Israel of being behind the cyber attacks.
