A former government official who was jailed after a high-profile sex tape scandal  submitted his appeal to a court on Wednesday in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

Lei Zhengfu, former secretary of Chongqing's Beibei District Committee of the Communist Party of China, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for bribery by the Chongqing No.1 Intermediate People's Court on Friday.

Lei's attorney, Lu Lei, told the Beijing-based Legal Daily that Lei disagreed with the court's rule in terms of admissibility of the evidence.

"Lei admits that his sex tape has cast a negative influence on his family and the Party but believes that his involvement in the sex tape should not constitute a crime legally," said the attorney.
