An ambulance caught fire around 10 am Tuesday on Yan'an Elevated Road, xinmin.cn reported.

The fire started in the driver's cab. No injuries were reported. 

There were no patients in the ambulance at the time as it was on its way to an inspection, according to the Shanghai Medical Emergency Center, which manages the city's ambulance service.

The center has opened an investigation into the incident.
