Panama's qualification in Gold Cup celebrated

The Panamanian press Monday spoke highly of the qualification of Panama's national soccer team to the second round of Concacaf (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) Gold Cup being held in the United States.

Panama was in the first position of Group A, followed by Mexico, Martinique and Canada, and qualified to the next round of the Concacaf's Gold Cup which began on July 7 and will end on July 28.

Local daily Panama America with the title "Leader of Group A" highlighted the draw without goals achieved last Sunday against Canada, which allowed the Panamanian team to confirm as the group leader, with 7 points.

The daily added that the Panamanian team achieved the Gold Cup's first goal while the challenge now was to qualify to semifinals.

Local daily La Prensa especially highlighted the level of player Jairo Jimenez during the match against Canada.

While local daily La Estrella's related story was titled " Unbeatable qualification", paying attention particularly to the announcement of the rival of Panama for its next match to be played next Saturday.
