Police have detained a man for blackmailing his ex-girlfriend with her nude photographs after she broke off their relationship, local media reported Wednesday.

The unidentified woman broke up with the man at the end of last year because the two had problems getting along, according to a report in the Xinmin Evening News. Looking to get even, the unidentified man hatched a scheme to humiliate her by posting naked photos of her online, according to the report. He had taken the photos when they were still together.

Because he still remembered the woman's username and password to a social media site, he was able to post several photos on her public account, according to the report. He then changed her username and password so she couldn't log on and delete them.

Within a few days, the photos were viewed hundreds of times. He then called the woman and said that he wouldn't delete the photos unless she either agreed to get back together with him or pay him 20,000 yuan ($3,259).

She chose neither and reported him to the police.

They arrested him on June 18 at a restaurant where he was supposed to collect the money from the woman.

He is currently in criminal detention for blackmailing others.
