Sizzling Summer Parties

If you can't stand the Shanghai summer heat any longer and the weather outside makes you want to strip down to your skivvies and sip on ice cold drinks, then check out these upcoming summer parties. There's no better way to stay cool this summer.

This weekend

Today, The Mansion (B-18 Dynasty Villa, 2388 Hongqiao Road, 186-0177-3399), the party house that can accommodate up to 700 guests, is inviting everyone to join their house party. They start early, at 1 pm, but the party will go on late into the night. During the day, relax on the fake beach and have a dip in the pool, and after the sun goes down, move to the first floor lounge to continue the party. Entrance including five drinks is 100 yuan ($16.29), or 150 yuan for three drinks and all-you-can-eat BBQ from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Also this weekend, on Saturday July 20, Shanghai Yacht Club (Rhine Dream Yacht Club, 999 Shuangyong Road, Dianshanhu county, Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, 139-1648-9071) will host the first public yacht party of the summer, organized by MVP, the people behind the regular nights at Bar Rouge and Flamingo. Tickets are 250 yuan and include transport to the venue and four drink tickets, music from Bar Rouge DJ Robin Blixt, and a bikini fashion show. The venue has a large pool and the organizers promise to transform it into a Miami-style poolside party. Jet skis can be rented for 250 yuan. BBQ dinner will be available in the evening. Shuttle buses will leave from Jing'an Temple from 11:30 am until 12 pm, and return at 9 pm from the Yacht Club and will drop you off at Flamingo. Also this Saturday, the Bund Beach at the Cool Docks (421 Waima Road) will host this year's second Rock the Beach Party. Starting from midday until 10 pm, there will be DJs spinning hip hop, house, trap and reggae, plus volleyball games, body painting, BBQ and Mexican food. Tickets will be available at the beach entrance for 100 yuan, including one free beer, all-day access to the beach, party area, the pool and volleyball games. Those who arrive before 3 pm will get a ticket for the Hed Kandi after party at The Geisha.

Next weekend

On July 27, Tiger Beer will throw a party recreating Thailand's Full Moon Parties on Koh Phangan beach, which have become one of the most famous parties attracting revelers from all over the world. The Shanghai Full Moon Party will take place on Sun Island (2588 Shentai Road, Zhujiajiao town, Qingpu district). Located about an hour away from downtown, there is a man-made beach with wave pool and waterslides. There will be black-light body paint and neon T-shirt customization stations, water sports, fire shows, and a Thai dinner in the evening. Dancing will go on until 2 am to the hip hop, trap, electro and house tunes from DJs Verse@ille from South Africa and Russian Boris Redwall. The 250 yuan tickets include transportation to and from Sun Island and four complimentary Tiger beers. There is also a 500 yuan package that comes with accommodation at the Sun Island Resort for the night for two people. Buses to the party depart from the Starbucks corner of Xintiandi at 1 pm (Taicang Road and Madang Road). On July 28, TICT will take over Bar Rouge's terrace (7/F, Bund 18, Zhongshandongyi Road) once again for the third installment of their summer rooftop party series Sundaes. Sweden's Lindberg and the Parisian duo Acid Pony Club will be making their Sundaes debut with support from Sundaes residents Robin Blixt, Keint and The Uhhh. The party will kick off at 3 pm and the music won't stop until 2 am. Free entry until 4 pm with RSVP to rsvp@tictcreative.com. After 4 pm, 80 yuan gets you in plus one drink.
