The United States has decided to increase its economic assistance to Jordan by about $340 million per year as of 2014, Jordan's state-run Petra news agency reported Saturday.

Officials said the addition will bring Washington's total aid to Amman to one billion dollars annually, according to Petra.

The US Congress is expected to endorse the aid in September, said the report.
