The second batch of 158 Fijian military personnel will leave for the Golan Heights in Syria on Friday for a United Nations peacekeeping mission.

An additional 159 soldiers will leave on Sunday, said Fijian Prime Minister and Military Commander Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama while bidding farewell to the second group of soldiers Thursday night.

The first batch of 182 Fijian soldiers went to the Golan Heights last month.

Bainimarama, who is also the commander of Fiji's military forces, stressed to the soldiers the importance of fulfilling their responsibility to Fiji and their families.
