A month-long campaign for Sunday's general elections came to an end without any noticeable violence, the National Election Committee (NEC) said on Friday.

"Despite some negative cases, in general, the campaign has been conducted smoothly with good environment, security and safety, " Havan Sivilay, NEC's member, told a press briefing to conclude the campaign. "There were not any remarkable clashes among supporters of different parties during the period."

"The campaign environment this time is much better than that of the last elections in 2008," said Tep Nytha, NEC's Secretary General, noting that more youth have been involved in politics.

He said the NEC has received 305 complaints filed by political parties. Some 257 of them have been solved.

About 9.67 million eligible voters will cast their ballots on Sunday at 19,009 polling stations nationwide, the NEC said.

In the last elections in July 2008, Prime Minister Hun Sen's party won 90 seats out of the 123 seats in the National Assembly.
