Members of the Bahraini National Assembly on Sunday approved toughening laws against terrorist crimes.

In an extraordinary parliament session, 71 out of 80 Shura Council members voted in favor of criminalizing violence, vandalism and sabotage.

"Bahraini people's patience is running out and appropriate measures should be taken to deter terrorism and enforce laws on instigators," said Khalil Al Thawadi, a Shura Council member.

Other members also called for dealing with terrorists with an " iron-fist" as some suggested banning any assemblies or rallies that endanger national security, revoking nationality of those convicted of terrorist crimes, and taking tougher actions against those who use children as foot soldiers.

All the recommendations were referred to the Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for ratification.
