Japan's jobless rate reaches five years' low in June

Japan's unemployment rate fell below 4.0 percent for first time since October 2008 to 3.9 percent in June from the previous month, according to the Japanese government Tuesday.

The number of unemployed people fell 160,000 from May to 2.54 million in June, said Japan's internal affairs ministry in a preliminary report, adding that companies had become willing to hire more workers with economy recovery.

The ministry said that by industry and manufactures, including automakers and electric appliance makers, jobs increased by 220, 000.

In a separated data from the labor ministry, Japan's job availability improved for the fourth straight month as the ratio of employment offers to seekers climbed to 0.92 in June from 0.90 in May.
