A new 24-hour live web channel that broadcasts pandas as they snack, strut and snooze at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Southwest China's Sichuan Province has become a recent hit online.

iPanda.com, co-launched by China Network Television (CNTV), features a total 28 high-definition cameras that record the everyday antics of over 80 giant pandas at the research base, reported the Shanghai-based eastday.com on August 1.

Net users can also choose to watch different age groups, such as baby pandas, baby and mother pandas or adult pandas.

Ten of the cameras that offer the best video and sound of pandas doing their thing are featured at any given time, one of which is accompanied by text offering in-depth knowledge and explanations of panda behavior.

A lot of netizens have offered their thoughts on the channel, with many saying it's "sometimes boring but really funny".

Weibo user Baciyuanxiaoniu posted, "When I'm upset, I'll visit this website and watch the pandas. Even though they're just sleeping, I still feel comfort."

A panda caught on camera during one of its favorite pastimes - napping. A grown panda sleeps up to 10 hours a day in intervals of two to four hours. Pandas also defecate while they sleep; the number of droppings usually indicates how long a panda has napped.
