A campaign has been in place since July 1 in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region to mobilize the public to fight against violent attacks, the Xinjiang Daily reported Sunday.

Several publicity brigades, consisting of officials, experts and religious officials, have been sent to give anti-violence lectures and promote social stability. Efforts to contain online rumors were also seen, as social media is being used to guide public opinions.
