IOC awards broadcast rights in 17 nations and regions for Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016

The International Olympic Committee announced Monday that it has reached an agreement with Japan-based advertising agency Dentsu for the Olympic broadcast rights in 17 Asian countries and regions for the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Games, and the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.

According to the IOC, Dentsu has acquired exclusive rights for the three editions of the Games and "will now seek broadcast partners".

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Earlier this mounth, the IOC awarded Dentsu the broadcast rights in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
