A survey shows online shopping is still popular among Australians despite Australian dollar's recent fall, local media reported on Tuesday.

The survey of 1,000 Australians commissioned by non-bank lender Aussie reveals over 80 percent of Australians has bought goods online from overseas, and 48 percent of shoppers say they will not change their buying habits just because of the weaker exchange rate.

The Australian dollar currently sits between 91 US cents and 92 US cents.

"It is interesting to see that the falling dollar has not perturbed too many shoppers," Aussie consumer finance products senior manager Liam Janke told the Australian Associated Press ( AAP).

"We recently ran a Facebook promotion to find Australia's smartest online shopper, and were surprised at the disparity in pricing between overseas and Australian sites and also between the overseas sites themselves," he said.

Janke said online shoppers can avoid some credit card charges by using low rate cards or cards that carry no international transaction fees.
