Indonesian Anti-Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Rudi Rubiandini, head of upstream oil and gas regulatory body SKK Migas, on Tuesday night for alleged bribery, local Metro television reported on Wednesday.

Spokesman for KPK Johan Budi told the television in a live broadcasting that Rubiandini, former deputy minister for energy and mineral resources, was arrested at his house at 22:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was allegedly taking a bribery from two officials from a private company. However, Johan declined to reveal the name of the firm.

The KPK seized money in US dollar and scores of documents, he said.

The commission is questioning Rubiandini and will then declare his legal status, according to Johan.

SKK Migas manages oil and gas contracts and projects valued at billions of US dollars.

Indonesia has been struggling to combat seismic corruption with KPK at the front line.

A number of officials including lawmakers and active central bank governor have been sent to jail or undergone legal process for corruption charges.
