Thai Criminal Court on Thursday handed life sentence for an Iranian involved in attempted Bangkok bombing early this year, while another faces 15 years in jail.

Saeid Moradi, 29, faced life in prison for attempt murder officials and possessing explosives that damaged properties, while Mohammad Khazaei, 42, was found guilty on causing explosions.

On Feb. 14, after a cache of explosives accidentally exploded at a house rent by the Iranians in Bangkok, the two fled from the house. While police was chasing them, Moradi took a bomb out from his bag and attempted to throw at the police, but the bomb turned to drop to his feet instead. Moradi lost his legs in the explosion. The police arrested three other Iranians for allegedly links to the failed bomb plot, while another fled to Malaysia and was now fighting extradition. Investigators later found more explosive materials in the house.

According to the Bangkok Post, the explosions in Bangkok occurred only a day after attacks against Israeli diplomats in India and Georgia.

However, the two defendants were not found guilty on terrorism charge.
