Three police officials in Henan Province have been sacked after a policeman in their bureau threw a baby to the ground, local authorities said on Friday.

The bureau chief and political commissar of the public security bureau of Linzhou have been dismissed, while two deputy secretaries of the bureau's Party committee were also removed from their party positions, said police authorities in Anyang, which administers Linzhou.

The sackings came after officer Guo Zengxi grabbed a 7-month-old girl from her parents and threw her to the ground after drinking on July 18. Guo has been arrested.

The child was rushed to hospital and suffered multiple brain injuries, including a bone fracture and bruising.
