Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is the richest among cabinet members with a net worth of 19.5 million US dollars, anti-graft state agency revealed on Tuesday.
Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) revealed the assets of the new cabinet members, appointed in June on Tuesday.
It is a law that all cabinet member must declare their asset before and after taking the posts.
The premier declared her assets to the NACC. Since June she has had double duty as defense minister due to the latest cabinet reshuffle in June. Her spouse has 2.4 million dollars in assets, while her young son has about 39,000 dollars in assets.
The assets of the premier and her son, excluding her common-law husband, are valued at 19.5 million dollars, with 840,000 dollars in liabilities.
The richest cabinet family is that of Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanchana, with assets over liabilities worth 95.7 million dollars. Pongthep alone has 10.6 million dollars in assets.
The least wealthy minister is Deputy Transport Minister Pong Chivanand, who has 50,023 dollars in assets.
New Social Development and Social Welfare Minister Paweena Hongsakul has net assets over liabilities of 1.3 million dollars, while Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri has 3.7 million dollars.
The NACC reported that so far, there is no report of irregularities in the declaration of assets statement.
