Clusters of mushrooms grow from the arms and chest of a statue of Guanyin (the Buddhist goddess of mercy) in Chetouan, a Buddhist convent in southern Fujian's Nanjing county. The 2.68-meter-high camphorwood statue sprouted mushrooms recently due to the high humidity and temperatures in the region. Photo: taihainet.com/Lin Xiaoqi

Visitors take photos of the Guanyin statue bearing clusters of mushrooms. Those at the Chetouan convent call the fungus "auspicious clouds" and take them as a good omen. Photo: taihainet.com/Lin Xiaoqi
