South Sudan president to visit Sudan on Tuesday

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit is to visit the Sudan's capital of Khartoum on Tuesday to hold summit with his Sudanese counterpart Omar al- Bashir on outstanding issues between the two countries, official SUNA news agency reported on Sunday.

"The summit between al-Bashir and Kiir will review means of enhancing the cooperation ties between the two countries," SUNA quoted Imad Sid Ahmed, press advisor of Sudanese president, as saying.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Foreign Ministry expressed hope in a statement that Kiir's visit would expedite the implementation of the cooperation agreements and tackle the outstanding issues between the two countries in a manner that institutes for a strategic relationship and achieves stability for the two peoples.

Kiir would be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers of foreign affairs, international cooperation, interior, petroleum and mining and industry, and the deputy minister of finance, trade and investment as well as a number of businessmen, according to the statement.

The visit is expected to review outstanding issues between the two countries, including the Abyei issue and the oil, security and citizens' status files.
