Senegalese Prime Minister Aminata Toure formed the new government of the West African country on Monday after named to the post the previous day, an official statement announced.

Youssou Ndour, tourism minister of the former government, is not included in the 32-member new lineup. The singer-turned politician entered the cabinet in April 2012 after disqualified to run in the presidential polls held in March of the same year.

Sidiki Kaba succeeds Toure's former portfolio as justice minister in the new government.

Toure, 51, on Sunday became the second Senegalese woman at the head of government since the country gained independence in 1960.

Mame Madio Boye was the first woman in the country to head the government between March 2011 and November 2012.

Before appointing Toure, Senegalese President Macky Sall sacked former prime minister Abdoul Mbaye, who served as the government leader after Sall won the elections in March 2012.

Toure won fame in tackling anti-corruption cases of senior officials during her tenure as justice minister. She was also known for pressing ahead with a long-delayed trial of Hissene Habre, the former Chadian leader, who is indicted of crimes against humanity from 1982 to 1990.
