Indonesia aims to expand export market in Brazil, Peru

The Indonesian government plans to boost exports to Brazil and Peru as part of efforts to increase export to non-traditional markets, an official said here Friday.

Deputy Trade Minister Bayu Krisnmurthi said that he would lead a trade mission to the countries from Sept. 11 and 13.

"We aim to strengthen relation with the countries and expand our export market access there," he said at the Trade Ministry.

Weakening global economy has declined Indonesia's export to its traditional export market, such as the United States and Europe.

The government saw that countries categorized in non- traditional export market have a great potential to buy more Indonesian export products.

The trade volume between Indonesia and Brazil was 3.4 billion U. S. dollar last year, data from Trade Ministry showed. Indonesia's export to Brazil reached 1.5 billion US dollar in the year, it said.

While Indonesia's trade volume with Peru was at 323.5 million US dollar last year.



The Indonesian government is seeking to boost export to ease weakening rupiah.
