The 2013 Euro-Asia Economic Forum (EAEF) will be held from September 26 to 28 in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, with a focus on developing cooperation between China and Central Asia, said Huang Haiqing, deputy secretary general of EAEF and deputy mayor of Xi'an, at a press conference on Tuesday.

Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, will attend the opening ceremony and address to deputies from more than 75 countries and regions throughout the world.

Following Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent "Silk Road" campaign to revitalize cooperation between China and Central Asia, the forum will hold talks with leaders and think tanks to promote trade and exchange at all levels between the two regions.

About 850 officials, entrepreneurs, academics and experts from Europe and Asia will attend the opening session, with a total estimated 2,000 guests in attendance during the three-day event.

The forum's hosts include the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretariat, the SCO Business Council, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the secretariat of the Eurasian Economic Community and the Shaanxi provincial government, as well as several Chinese ministries and central commissions.

The biennial Euro-Asia Economic Forum was first launched in Xi'an in 2005, and the city was named as a permanent venue for the forum in April 2007.
