Fifty-two of the 320 cobras that escaped from a snake farm in Longchang county, Sichuan Province in August are still missing, with local people worried over the situation, Chengdu Business Daily reported Sunday.

Since the escape, 268 of the venomous snakes have been found or killed by villagers and local government officers.

Chen Dahua, owner of the snake farm, who breeds more than 3,200 cobras, put 320 cobras in a house with a poor foundation and the snakes escaped through the cracks.

Two cobras were most recently found at a local kindergarten near the snake farm.

"The cobra grew very fast," said the person in charge of the school.

Many parents continue to worry about their kids being bitten by the missing snakes.

"I can't let my kids play outside now," said a father.

Cobras die in the winter when it gets colder than 10 C, but not if they can hibernate in warmer temperatures.
