Jamaican soccer international Jermaine Hue has been suspended for nine months following a doping offence, FIFA announced on Thursday.

The 35-year-old midfielder was tested positive for dexamethasone, a steroid hormone, after Jamaica's 2-0 away defeat to Honduras in a World Cup qualifier in June.

Jamaica's team doctor, Carlton Fraser, has been handed with a four-year ban. Both Fraser and Hue have been suspended provisionally since August and their ban will be backdated.

Hue will not be able to play in any friendly or official matches, national and international level alike, until May 6, 2014, while Fraser is banned from working in football until August 6, 2017.

Hue made his debut for Jamaica in 1999 and has scored 12 goals in 42 international appearances.

In March, FIFA also banned the Peruvian international Joel Sanchez for two years for testing positive for the same substance.
