Japan's new car sales in September rise 12.4 pct

Japan's new car sales excluding mini- vehicles in September soared 12.4 percent on yearly basis to 324, 315 units, marking the first growth in five months, local media reported Tuesday.

Passenger car sales increased 12.7 percent to 284,109 units, while truck sales rose 10.7 percent to 39,087 units and bus sales gained 13.3 percent to 1,119 units, Kyodo News reported, citing the Japan Automobile Dealers Association's data.

According to a separate report by the Japan Mini Vehicles Association, sales of new mini-vehicles with an engine displacement of up to 660 cc grew 25.4 percent in the reporting month to 198,445 units, marking the third consecutive month of growth.
