Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will help Myanmar to enhance engineering higher education sector in the country, official media reported Sunday.

Engineering higher education promotion plan was jointly implemented by Myanmar Ministry of Science and Technology and JICA.

The five-year plan and minutes of the agreement were signed between JICA Myanmar Office Chief Representative Masahiko Tanaka and officials of seven Japanese Universities, said the New Light of Myanmar.

The plan also covers sending faculty members of Yangon Technological University (YTU) and Mandalay Technological University (MTU) to Japanese universities for upgrading six departments, conducting research between Myanmar and Japanese universities, sharing academic techniques and providing necessary equipment.

YTU and MTU also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with six Japanese universities.
