A Filipino-Chinese businessman, who was kidnapped last week in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, was freed Wednesday, local police said.

Zamboanga Peninsula Police public information chief Ariel Huesca said that authorities recovered Lee Tan, 37, at the vicinity of Esperanza village, Ramon Magsaysay town, at around 8: 45 a.m. local time.

He did not mention if a ransom was paid for the safe release of the victim.
