An unemployed husband has been charged with scamming two women out of 900,000 yuan ($147,080) by pretending to be in a relationship with them while carousing with other women, district prosecutors said Tuesday.

The suspect, Chen Bin, who was married and unemployed, met the women on Momo, a location-based social networking app, according to a press release from the Jing'an District People's Prosecutor's Office.

Chen met one of the women, a lawyer surnamed Shen, at a gathering for Momo users in January, where Chen pretended to be a wine dealer from Singapore. Prosecutors said Chen came off as a charming and urbane businessman.

Chen pursued Shen romantically. Apparently, he was able to win her trust because she was willing to transfer money to his bank account when he claimed he had to repay a private loan. He also convinced her to share her bank account passwords. In the end, Chen squandered the money on gambling, high-end hotel rooms and other women, prosecutors said.

Shen did not discover Chen had other women until a friend told her that he had impregnated another woman who he also met on Momo. She then reported him to police.
