Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will visit the Philippines on Oct. 21-22 for the 2nd Meeting of the Philippines-India Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.

During his visit, Khurshid is to pay a courtesy call on Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and on Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario.

Del Rosario and Khurshid are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation, particularly in security, defense and trade at the JCBC meeting.

They will also exchange views on international and regional issues such as maritime security cooperation, the DFA said.

Khurshid will also deliver the inaugural lecture entitled "The Shaping of Indian Foreign Policy" at the Foreign Service Institute on Oct. 22. The minister will explain the country's Look East Policy and Philippine-Indian relations.

This will be Minister Khurshid's first official visit to the Philippines.
