Singapore's Sembcorp Industries is investing about 932 million yuan (152.8 million US dollars) to develop a total water management plant in China, the company said on Friday.
With the latest project, Sembcorp will have 23 utilities operations across 11 provinces in China.
The latest plant, located in Changzhi in the coal-producing province of Shanxi, will be built to support the one-million-ton- per-annum coal-to-diesel project of Shanxi Lu'an Group under a 15- year service agreement.
It aims to achieve "zero liquid discharge" and is expected to be completed in phases between late 2014 and 2015.
The plant will offer the most comprehensive range of water products and solutions among Sembcorp's water facilities in China, the company said in a statement.
Singapore is the third largest source of direct foreign investment in China. Some of the utilities firms from Singapore, including developers of water plant and waste treatment plant, have been investing across China.
