Changning District People's Court has sentenced a man to three and a half years in prison for raping a woman at the hotel he was staying at in June, the court said Tuesday.

The defendant, surnamed Duan, snuck into the woman's room through a window, where he found her undressing, according to a court press release. She screamed for help, but Duan covered her mouth and threatened to strangle her if she screamed again. After Duan finished, he returned to his room and fell asleep. The victim called the police, who arrested Duan at the hotel.

The court said it gave Duan a lenient sentence because he confessed at trial.
