The Egyptian government decided on Thursday to shorten the curfew hours on weekdays, official news agency MENA reported.

Starting from Thursday, the curfew, imposed in 14 governorates including the capital of Cairo, starts at 1:00 am instead of 12: 00 am, and lasts until 5:00 am instead of 6:00 am.

But on Fridays, the curfew remains starting at 7:00 pm and ends at 05:00 am, the report said.

Egypt began to implement the curfew on August 14, as part of a state of emergency in light of the turmoil that followed a dispersal operation against two sit-in camps supporting ousted President Mohamed Morsi.
