Mali's National Education Minister Togola Jacqueline Marie Nana on Thursday reiterated the government's commitment to reform the country's education sector.

The minister was speaking when she presided over the launch of the "Emergency Education Program for All," funded by the Malian government and the World Bank.

The minister thanked the World Bank for its consistent support to Mali, and especially for releasing $41.7 million towards the education program.

"The launch of the program constitutes an opportunity for our country, which is currently engaged in the process to reform the education sector in order to improve the quality of education offered and expand access to education to end inequalities," Madam Marie Nana said.

She said the program mainly targets displaced children in certain regions of the country, and noted that its implementation will enable more Malian children to enjoy their right to free universal education.

Pierre Karano, the World Bank official monitoring the execution of the three-year project, said it was necessary to implement it

without any delay, adding he hoped to see some results on the ground within the next six months.
