The number of websites registered with the national top-level domain name "cn" has exceeded 8 million since October, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday.

The new number has put China on the fourth place in terms of the number of registered websites under different national domain names.

China Internet Network Information Center has been working on the management of domain names since December 2009. The center has successfully blocked a number of phishing websites registered under the "cn" domain name, Xinhua reported.
